So we all know the founder is an Aggie. However, what do we know/feel about leaving our vehicles there until midnight or 1 AM?….on gameday

From 2019 but I would assume the policy is still in effect.

He is in business to make money. That parking lot is a zoo before you start leaving cars there. Go park at a school or church if you have to.

Don't do it. They will put a big sticker on your windshield that is hard as heck to get off. They monitor the parking lot. Just because he is an Aggie, doesn't mean anything. I'm learning he is not what you think he is.

Yes, he's an ******* because he doesn't want hundreds of cars filling up his parking lot on a busy Saturday. What?

Locals from Brazoria county don't have the most flattering things to say about him. Something about his divorce, etc.

But, he's made a bunch of money with a good business model and is giving a bunch of money to the university, so people will deify him.

That's fine. But saying he's a bad Aggie because he won't let people leave cars in his extremely busy lots is an lol stupid take.

To clarify my post . . .

1. Don't park yes. I did it once and got a sticker on my car. Agree it's not cool park there.

2. My comment about him being an Aggie and not "what we think he is" is in reference to said rumors but also that he trying to drive out and shut down all convenience stores except for his. I understand business, but the guy has millions if not close to a Billion, and putting a huge "Buc-ees is 35 miles" billboard right above Hruska's in Ellinger is bush league in my opinion. I love Hruskas (much better kolaches and burgers) so want it to stay open.

Already put several nice older C-stores out of business on some of my travel routes. And donated $25M to ATM and then pulled it back for some bs reason (allegedly).

It was $50M. There were delays in getting his building started but I don't know that his donation vanished.

The donation was paused after Banks tried to reappropriate what the donation was intended for.

The story I heard was after Banks "resigned" and was more to do with the delay in getting anything going on the building plans.

He committed to the donation in Summer '22. I'd heard that Banks attempted to have some language slid into the agreement that allocated more of the money to discretionary funds.

I'm not deifying anyone. Edit: seems yall have figured it out already. But ya. Poor choice of how to throw all that out there. Also sounds like your donation rumors are BS. Find it odd you want to air his dirty laundry here in the first place. Who cares. Go park somewhere else.

While we're airing grievances against Buc-ee's, can I air a grievance on their ice prices doubling in the last 5 years or so?

It's just some water and a little electricity in a plastic bag.

I'm sure there's cost escalation but not doubled in that period.

I don't know anything about the fella's divorce, but he's straight profiteering after hooking so many people on affordable bags of ice.

Hook a consumer then jack up the price.

Oldest trick in the book.

They're still the cheapest ice around but that's not the point. It doesn't have to be this way.

Maybe he could have special Aggie pricing if he's not gonna let us park our cars there on Gamedays.

</end of grievance airing>

Wait, you're *****ing about the ice going from .99 to 1.99? For a 20 lb bag of ice? Which is still significantly cheaper than anywhere else that only sells 16 lb bags now?

Really?

Here in BCS you'll double or triple that prices they charge

Mr. Bucee. That son of a gun.

You know what he did?

He wouldn't let me park unaccounted for and without notice for undisclosed hours in his parking lot. The size, accessibility, and ease of access to, is a cornerstone of his entire business model. And I'm an Aggie, no less! AND THEN he put a big sticker on my car for violating his policies cuz he's mean! Oh and by the way "(wink wink). I hear he did some bad stuff and divorce rumors are salacious"

What a bad dude!

WAIT

Man, you know what he did next?

Raised his ice $1 during the highest inflationary period in recent memory. And guess what! It was more than what it should be based on the governments calculation of an averaged inflation price index!

"But it remains cheaper than everyone else!"

NOPE. total bad Aggie. Not paying his well earned wealth forward $0.30 at a time. See that's why he clearly doesn't care about the middle class…

But seriously, you didn't hear the very worst Part?

He agreed to donated a huge sum of money. The agreement that was in place got disputed. And like any normal human wants to know "where your tax dollars go" and allegedly it's on hold while they make sure he's comfortable with the final agreement.

I know the horrors of someone wanting their name on something they donated and agreed to donate money for… what a *****. Just give every student a 5k scholarship and give us back our 30 cents in ice. !!!

Lastly. The worst doubly worst thing he did. Did you know?

Omg. Some whispers in the night, rumors locals discuss. But I can't tell you! He's just the Aggie you can't just assume is an "real Aggie".

That's the nature of the industry. Even on regular routes of mine that are too small for a Buc-ee's, the mom & pop stores are gone and replaced by chains, or by Dollar General. In at least one case I know, Pop did get a little bit of a buyout when the new gas station and c-store came in. But some of my routes through the piney woods look very different over the last few years, without a Buc-ee's in sight.

The big ass c-stores connected to gas stations have been blowing up all over the place the last couple years, supposedly related to some changes in the tax code that incentivized them to build bigger.

I'm cracking up over here tbh. Grown men gossiping while acting like middle school girls and taking shots at someone for implementing common sense measures. That is all. My post was satire clearly.

Nope. Just think immature adults need to be called out. I have no ties or allegiance to Buc-ee's at all. My position is strictly principle and I'm just calling it like I see it.

I can't recall the last time I was in a small c store, rural or otherwise, where the proprietor appeared to be a native Texan. I think mom & pop got out of the c store business a generation or two back.

Buc-ees is awesome, not sorry. And yes, it would be a great place to leave your car for carpool, whether on gameday, or if going out west on a hunting trip or something, but that would be a stupid policy from a business standpoint and I think anyone could see that being abused.

You want to build happy, loyal, lifelong customers...it's already hectic AF...the last thing you want it to become is an absolute parking nightmare that just makes the place not even worth going into at all.

I usually park in the Academy parking lot near Fairfield. Or that HEB. Never had a problem.
