Anyone seeing that big ass Islamic center being built by the Allen Parkway? Wonder what fun and excitement that'll bring to good ol Houston? It's enormous.

I have driven past it there on Montrose and Allen Pkwy. Wasn't sure what exactly they were building but now I know. Looks massive and extremely expensive.
The luxury apartments around there are in for some interesting times.

Daughter has a couple of longtime friends that are Ismaili. I would compare their sect to Switzerland. Any drama caused by them is between women in their sect. The stories I've heard over the years are worthy of a reality show.

And when one of the affluent men becomes a widower, look out. The widows or otherwise single women are read to push each other into traffic to get a shot with him.

With one quick look it seems HAIF takes themselves a bit too seriously and the discussion is a bit too boring. I'm lamenting the loss of basically golden age cracked.com for Houston area real estate.

ismailis are to Islam as Mormons are to Christianity (according to my Muslim friends). If they can get the sidewalk on Montrose from west Dallas to Allen parkway fixed, more power to them.

I'd rather have that then the "Lumen" apartment complex across the street where taxing authority granted massive property tax breaks in exchange for their offer of "income based rent" for "qualified" applicants (hint: there might be 1 person able to qualify out of 100 units). That will degrade the tax base for a long time.

$50 million dollars gone in a couple of hours. I remember seeing a little puff of smoke and within 5 minutes it was clear the whole place was going up.
