Uber dropped me at 5:20. Less than 10mins through TSA Pre-Check. It appears anyone arriving at C is being told to go to E. A is the way to go for pre-check.

So Terminal A security is open? My son has (had) a flight out of A but the United app told him to go to E and then take the train. He spent two hours outside and just now got inside the building. He'll miss his 820 flight.
As long as you're not checking a bag on United you can go through security in A. There's no United bag drop in A.

The United app is directing everyone to E. Between what Chewy and ChiAggie posted and a text I got from a friend that flew out shortly after him, I went A. Standard TSA was still damn near out the door. Pre-Check was no one. Clear Pre-check had a really long line and I just laughed at them for standing in it when they could just scoot over and not have to wait.

Buy a star, comment on this thread, and keep it on your watchlist forever. I've had better IAH tips from this thread than any news website.

Flying out in the morning, and did reserve parking for A garage. Not checking bags, flying out of gate C.
Terminal E is slow AF on a fully staffed day, I think they chose E to stay open knowing it is the slowest terminal anyways….
Terminal E has United baggage check, right?
My son is going to miss his flight back to college from Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston because the lines to check in are backed up for HOURS. He's rebooking and they told him to get to the airport four hours in advance!

No one anywhere near me was making their flight. I arrived at E terminal at 4:11 and walked away from security at 10:00. Cots pulled out everywhere for the stranded, everyone crowding around the lone deli open, and still hours worth of people were in line behind me trying to get through security. I rebooked from today to early morning an hour into my wait, not expecting I had so long to go.

Yep. It was unreal. My fault for underestimating how bad it could be, after only 10 minutes through security the last few weeks. Made friends with the neighbors in line though!

Is this solely a shutdown thing or coupled with typical county incompetence? I haven't seen Reports of delays this dramatic from other major hubs. Maybe I'm just missing it.
I haven't read anything about as bad as IAH. Heard Hobby was 90mins at times. My brother left Vegas today and didn't say anything bad.

No, I usually don't travel much for work so I had not purchased pre-check. But it's more enticing now. I'm sure pre check was far less time, how long I couldn't say. But they were backed up to the sign that says pre check / clear/ standard screening. Pre-check was shut down altogether around 8:30
My brother-in-law is a pilot and said Philadelphia this afternoon was the worst he's ever seen, but nothing like IAH

Have a 7:20 flight tomorrow to Vegas on United and am checking bags. Trying to decide on if I want to just cancel it and not have to deal with the IAH mess.
Any word on Hobby? I'm flying to Chicago tomorrow afternoon and may switch to Southwest if it's better there.

E pre check was twice as fast as premier access this morning. I got into premeir line approx 5:30am and took 45 mins.
