Howdy,
I am way behind on the change in Bryan baseball, with the Bombers leaving and the Yard Dogs coming in. Can anyone fill me in on all the changes? Looking forward to some summer league again.

Not minor league baseball. Collegiate league. With some sort of independent hybrid in the Yard Dogs. I think neither team makes it very long. They had a good thing and poo poo'd it away.

The owners of the Bombers worked with the SB to have the pop-up game at their field in Navasota.

The coach of the Bananas (not Jesse Cole, the owner) was coach of the Bombers several years back.

Yes the coach of the Bananas was a coach for the Bombers but also Uri and Jesse Cole have known each other for more than 20 years.

I stand corrected.

When the minor leagues contracted several years back the Savannah Sand Gnats were essentially eliminated. They returned as the Savannah Bananas a summer collegiate team, who came up with some catchy ideas to keep fans involved etc…. The Bombers are a summer collegiate team so there is a connection there with the Bombers.

Has anyone else been to a Yard Dogs game? Tix are cheap enough, but the food prices are outrageously high. The quality of baseball is pretty terrible but it's a fun night. The new PA system could probably be heard from villa Maria and needs to be turned down about ten notches. City fixed up Bomber Stadium but you can still tell it's old. Attendance seemed on par with the Bombers. Hope the Yard Dogs can make it

Went last night. Pitcher for other team who threw a 1 hit complete game was my son's roomate and teamate a few years ago. Not many fans there but $2 hot dogs. The owner came up and talked with us for a while. Very nice guy. Apparently a player for the other team was picked up by the Padres organization so there is talent. These guys playing to chase their dreams and play for the love of the game. If you enjoy baseball in the purest, its worth watching.

I was walking by as he was warming up. He's got a big league arm.

He definitely has raw talent. He had challenges with command at his previous stops. Great to see him start to put it together.

Always curious when people make these comments. Do you know him or have first hand knowledge? Just curious why the comment.

I've done business with/for him. And know lots of folks who did the same.

I know Yuri didnt put any money into transportation for the players. Buses broke down numerous times. Players had to travel to Louisiana in minivans. Can you picture those guys having to sit with their knees to their ears, on top of their equipment for a 6 hour trip one way. Also no air-conditioning for most trips.

I have also done businesswith him. Not a pleasant experience.
