It has been several years since we've flown out of Easterwood airport. It used to be that you could show up about an hour before your flight to check in and then board. Is that still the case or do we need to arrive sooner than 1 hour?

Mrs. WolfCall and I swore we would never fly again; however, we flew out of Easterwood in early August, catching a 6:00 AM flight and routed through multiple stages to Providence Rhode Island airport and return trip 8 days later departing Providence at 6:00 AM. Everything worked - American Airlines both ways. No problems.

The security lines are still not time consuming at Easterwood. Mrs and I got there a little over an hour ahead of time because we hadn't traveled in so long. If I was flying out tomorrow at 6:00 AM, I would get there at the check in desk one hour and fifteen minutes ahead of departure. Maybe allow more time for flights later in the day.

Depends on your risk tolerance to an extent. If you're not checking a bag, you should be fine getting there 30 minutes before the flight time. If you are checking a bag, you'll need to be there closer to an hour to be safe. I believe the cutoff for bag check is 45 minutes.

I've gone through the security alone in 60 seconds the last couple of times.

If you're not checking a bag, there's no reason to arrive any earlier than 30 minutes before your flight. Flying out of Eastwood is the best

Flying OUT of Easterwood can be the best, unless there's fog, rain, wind, or the previous night's flight never showing.

Flying IN to Easterwood can be more of a challenge. Always have that rental car reserved for a drive home.

I get there several minutes before boarding starts. So maybe 35-40 minutes before flight. Security takes as long as it takes to walk 20 feet.

Wife and I get there an hour and 10 minutes early just to be safe on bag-check. We always fly out of Easterwood to avoid the larger airport wait times for security. Flying out of Easterwood is a dream. I have heard that sometimes people don't make the last flight in for the night, but my wife and I have done it many times and never missed it. Granted, we only fly a few times a year. If you fly every week, I imagine it's more likely you would miss it occasionally.

I'm sure flights in get canceled, but I've never experienced it. Until I get burned, I'm all aboard the Easterwood train

I've had 2 out of 5 flights cancelled in the last year. That's definitely the biggest issue.

Thanks for the reply, we'll be traveling with 2 kids plus also checking bags. I'll plan to go closer to the hour to not be rushed.

I woke up at 4:14am for a 5:00am out of Easterwood last October and still sat down and waited for 5 minutes before boarding. I live by the Tower Point HEB. Don't recommend attempting this. If you're not checking a bag, there is no reason to show up before the 45 minute mark. If you are checking a bag you MUST be there before the 45 minute mark or you will not be checking a bag.

If checking bags, I would get there at least 70 minutes before. I think the bag cutoff is 45 min, but its 60 in major cities. I would be too paranoid it would change and then we couldn't get on the flight.

Yes, Easterwood with Kids is the way to go. IMO, it's way better than driving to Houston, parking then getting to the terminal and going thru security and all that at the big airport.

Easterwood is park, drop your bags and get inside and with kids its that much easier. It's a pain to have to cange planes in Dallas, but its the lesser of two evils.

I fly out of there for work and it's the way to go in my opinion.

except that a lot of the times it adds $200-500+ to your trip PP. '

example:

CLL - DEN thru DFW Jan 13 = 344
AUS (or IAH) - DEN non stop Jan 13 = 96

work pays - no big deal
personal travel with family - different deal

B/CS is really not SEC ready until we get a DL flight to ATL.
we need the competition

Agreed. Austin is easy to get in and out of, too.

I'm paying a small fortune to fly from CLL to New Hampshire rather than deal with IAH and Boston. For me it's worth it, when possible, to shell out the extra dough.
