my daughter worked with 99tutors (https://99tutors.com/) here in College Station and they helped take her ACT up significantly ... they create custom programs based on your kid. I think it was like $500 and well worth it!

Free SAT prep that worked pretty well for my kids.
This works fine if your kid is disciplined enough to spend 30 - 45 minutes, 4 or 5 days every week for 2 months following the program.

Hope you have lots of $$$$ --- we finally gave up because they are just all so overpriced. Using Khan Academy and keeping our fingers crossed.

We offer competitive prices for our courses. However, if I didn't charge what I charge for private instruction, I would be working 80+ hours per week. Unfortunately, this is what the market demands.

Avant Garde is the absolute standard in town and they'll find ways to work in your budget. I know several people who have sent their kids there and left very happy. I cant see the owner turning people away over a few dollars.

Avant Garde claims a 150 point improvement and my daughter improved by 200 points. One of the things my daughter struggles with is vocabulary and they recommended that she read on the side, especially news (not just YA books). It was a little too late for my daughter to improve her vocabulary but perhaps other parents reading this thread who have younger kids can benefit from this advice if they start now.
