I'm hoping the power of Texags all connected OB can help me out. My dad and I have sold/adopted out our 6 yr old Saddlebred that has only hauled once when he was delivered as a foal. Neither of us are super experienced horsemen (horse was a pre divorce project with the equestrian exwife) so are not super experienced with the greener horses. We attempted to load on the buyer's straight load trailer yesterday but we couldn't get him to commit and get on then the weather turned on us. If we had done any more we would have hurt ourselves or the horse.

Is there any experienced haulers on here that could get him from The Woodlands/Conroe area to Baytown tomorrow or the next couple of days? Probably needs a slant load with a ramp. I'm talking to a hauler to try tonight but they may not be able to make it work before leaving for a long haul over the weekend. Any help would be appreciated!

Maybe try a stock trailer? It seems more open and might not cause the horse to refuse to enter. Also you can usually get them to enter with a steady relentless pull. They get tired of it and edge forwards. Does the trailer have a forward door so you can tug the horse in and then step out the front?

I can likely get that done depending on timing. Mine is a straight load but nice long ramp and have loaded and hauled many challenging animals.

Update:

Grem can add horse whisperer to his list of many talents! It was an absolute masterclass on working with the horse and there was almost zero stress in the animal as he loaded on the trailer after about 45 minutes of work and headed off to his new home. Cannot recommend Grem enough! Thanks again and I look forward to getting my boys and I out on the water with you for your day job!

Thank yall for trusting me with your hoofed buddy. He will be great just needs some practice. Once he realized what we were asking of him wasnt all that bad he did just what he was supposed to. All safe and no stress. He was Mr. Big Eyes at his new barn too.... lots of buddies talking to him. He will settle in with the new owners and be a big hit.

Thanks again and glad it all worked out with noone getting hurt.

Happy to help with any random odd ball side jobs.
