I always need a project, and while Im waiting for the mechanics to get to the boat for the rebuild, I decided to start building an outdoor kitchen - I've had a couple before, and have all the normal stuff (sink, mini-fridge, grill, smoker, etc., but they've all been very basic. Since I am building this myself - I am looking to see what other things I can add. So far, I have come up with:

Ice tub for beer
pizza oven
high BTU burner (haven't had this before, but know it is common)
ice maker

Not all of this will likely make it in, but I'm in the planning stage, so want to make sure I am thinking about everything.

Whatcha got that isn't on the list?

Drawers, drawers and more drawers. Measure the dimensions of your favorite charcoal and have a dedicated charcoal cabinet that can hold 2-3 bags at a time. I also like having two under counter refrigerators, one for beer/drinks, and one for food and overflow drinks. If you are building your own outdoor kitchen make sure you add good venting for propane/NG, propane needs low vents and NG needs high vents so I would just add both as you build in case you ever need to switch. I would definitely add a BGE (ceramic smoker) cutout if I were doing my own build. Lastly, be cognizant of where you are adding sinks, burners, grills, smokers etc. and try to give yourself as much uninterrupted countertop space as possible.

Cut the pizza oven and put in a stainless built in griddle. You'll use it way more than a pizza oven.

I went this one from Blaze

Just remember, every little nook and cranny is one more spot to collect cobwebs and grass clippings.

My neighbor has a pretty amazing outdoor kitchen setup and one thing I think is great is a built in pressure washer in one of the below counter cabinets. Its one of those cheap electric ones, but it is ready to go to rinse the space off since we live in a dusty area. Just open up the door, unreel the hose and clean. Super easy and takes up minimal room. I am pretty sure he has also run compressed air to that cabinet, so he can bring out an air nozzle and blow off the area too.

Don't do ice tub for beer. It will just collect leaves and junk the other 363 days of the year.

I have a kegerator in mine... used it very often for several years... haven't used it that often while my older two kids have been between the ages of 14/15 and 18. Damn kids and their friends empty kegs way too fast when I get kegs right now.

Ice makers live very hard lives… and they live even harder lives outdoors in Texas (or the Gulf Coast in general).

I sell them, but only reluctantly… and with a long-winded disclaimer.

If you are going to have a BGE or similar ceramic smoker, I recommend Under Kamado Stainless Drawer . We also have an ice machine from RCS and knock on wood, it has been trouble free for 5 years in Katy and is so nice to have.
