Try to get some pics from the landowner, if you haven't already. Land in that area can either be red dirt "canyons" (as you get further west towards Memphis, or it CAN be heavily wooded "creek bottoms" around Quail. Lots of big deer in the Shamrock area, and the more that the land looks like that (sandy plains/shin oak/wooded "creek bottoms"), rather than "red dirt" mesquite and cedar, the more likely you are to have bigger deer.
Ask your landowner if it's mainly whitetail, or if you have a mix of whitetail/mule deer. Turkey can be really variable up there, as well. Some places will have plenty, and some will have little to no turkey. The more big cottonwoods/water you have in the immediate area, the more likely you are to have turkey. I've got land near Childress, and land north of Wheeler. Not that far apart, but like two different worlds.
