I know there's some badass fisherman on this board. Heading to Caddo Lake tomorrow with the wife to do some bass fishing. Super murky water… any tips on what you'd recommend to have the most luck?

Murky dirty low visibility water = blue/black or other dark colors and go shallow with noisy heavy displacement lures. Baby brush hog would be my go to. Spinner bait would also be tied on. And a buzz bait for first light. Then switching to a baby torpedo.

If it's cloudy I would go with Grems advice. If it's going to be a bright sunny day I would use something white, chartreuse, bright silver(mirror), or bright neon orange in the turbid water.
Also, depending on surface temp, they may not have moved to real shallow yet….so might not rule out fishing a little deeper.
Retrieve slower and use crankbaits that rattle and make noise, spinner bates with large blades, anything that can make noise.

Never fished caddo but used to spend a lot of time on Vernon lake in La. Very similar place. Very muddy, tons of timber, mostly shallow.

Our top lures were zoom black blue lizards, white spinner baits with a chartreuse curly tail grub trailer and copper willow leaf blades, fire and ice worms, crawfish colored rattle trraps.

We never fished it this early in the year but March was always prime. Fishing the northwest bank in the afternoon. Supposedly that's the first area of a lake to heat up in the spring.

If the water is super murky I would just punt on Caddo and go fish another east Texas lake.

I like fishing murky/muddy water cause I like to flip. I'd try black and blue creature bait and maybe rip a trap out of grass flats leading to spawning grounds. I rarely get to fish in February, but my cousins always catch a lot on a jerk bait on Toledo this time of year. If your wife gets tired of fishing just tie her on a rogue and let her drift it behind the boat. Seen some big fish get caught this way by people sleeping and letting the trolling motor do the work.

Not much luck today. Just caught a few of these little guys. Still beats a day at the office.

What part of Caddo are you fishing - main lake or cypress bayou? Water is low so it is as "clean" as it ever gets. I have caught most of my fish in the back waters off of the main bayou channel up on the cypress trees. Rattle traps and chartreuse spinner baits generally work well. Might also tie into some bowfin in those areas

Also lake o the pines and Martin creek are all options in that area that have much clearer water than Caddo

We put in at Caddo State Park and go up and down river from there.

We also enjoy (and have better luck) at Martin Creek. However Caddo is great for cruising on a pretty day and it's so close to our house.

I did see an old man with a big cigar tearing it up with an Alabama rig. I've never tried that. Any tips on using that setup on when/why you would?

Take her to a nice dinner. Compliment how she looks. Tell her how much you appreciate her.

A few drinks usually doesn't hurt either.
