Current Toro Guaranteed to Start is a piece of junk. I've hated it almost since I bought it. Lower power, crap design leaking oil into the air filter. Went to do my annual February low cut on my Bermuda and it just isn't long for this earth.

I want a high powered, low cutting, bagging, mower. Good for my Bermuda.

Thanks

May want to look at an EGO. Less maintenance.

Yes, I have one. It's great. Low maintenance. I do have multiple batteries as I have s few other EGO products.

More torque with electric motor.

Go back in time and get a craftsman with a Honda engine.

Bought a Honda RWD probably 10 years ago. Not fancy but I have done ZERO maintenance on the thing and it still starts right up. Have to replace the wheels because I've worn the tread off, but haven't so much as changed the oil.

I've got an EGO - it's not bad. I had 2 batteries but one stopped working on me. I primarily use a zero turn but the EGO is good for a few areas I can't access with the ZT.

We rented a house last year and I wasn't always able to finish the front+back on one charge which was annoying when my second battery went out.

Got tired of having small engine carb issues every couple of years so decided to try electric several years ago. Went with Kobalt, the Lowe's house brand, for electric lawn tools - and I LOVE them. Have the mower, weed eater, hedge trimmer, and blower. All are several years old and run like new. Each came with a battery but I only use one tool at a time so I constantly have three in queue on chargers.

Go back in time and get a steel deck Lawn Boy 2 cycle.

I loved that thing.

Back to the OP. I have an EGO. It is light. Easy to push if you want. Cuts well.

When my beloved Honda finally crapped out (engine still running perfectly, deck was completely falling apart)
I bought a Toro Recycler Max 22".

Mowed all last year without a single hitch. Really pleased with the performance.

Side note: I run ALL my gas lawn equipment on ethanol free gas.

If you go gas, I would stick with Briggs or Honda.

I inherited a 60v Toro push mower two years ago. I am quite impressed with the performance, but my lawn is not large.

Pay the local kid to mow your lawn. Cheap labor and extra time to spend on fishing or hunting.

I like ego but it won't cut your Bermuda if it get taller than an inch or so you are cutting off and to do your winter. It back short it won't do it. Just does not have the power.

Yes. You definitely can't miss a weekly mow. Good point.

Husqvarna W520 with Kawasaki engine. Hands down the best mower I've had.

If you go the gas powered route, don't ever put ethanol in it or you will be just like this guy. Pure gasoline is now readily available everywhere. Use it in your small engines. Worth every penny.

Absolutely! Ethanol Free.
I have left my engines for an entire season with 91 Octane Ethanol free in them and they start perfect…and add no additives.

Who knows if they are still made this way, but i have a troy built from Lowes with a Briggs and Stratton motor that has been going strong for 17 years. half of that has been stored outside. I have replaced the two front wheels and throttle cable.

I had a Honda for like 15 years and it started on the first pull every single time. Even after it sat in the garage all winter. The wheels started falling apart finally and it was difficult to find replacements. I gave it away thinking I could just go buy a new one and turns out they don't make them anymore. Got a Toro and have had several problems already and it's only a year old.

I have a 15 year old toro personal pace with a Honda engine. Won't say zero problems, but very few. Had to change the auto choke last year. I wasn't aware honda wasn't making lawn mower engines anymore, thats a shame. I'm a big fan of the personal pace system.

I don't go out of my way to run non ethanol fuel in my small engines. I've never had a single problem. Even if I don't drain the carb before putting them up for storage. I also try to run my small engines at least once every two months for a few minutes just to keep them ready to go.

I got my craftsman mower with a honda for free. Somebody posted it on FB marketplace because it wasn't running. All I had to do to get it running was clean the carb. I slapped a new blade on that thing as well and now it's like a brand new mower.

My parents had a Honda gas pressure washer that sat in their shop for 8yrs because it wasn't running. All I did to get it running was shoot some starting fluid into it. After that it amazingly ran on the 8yr old gas. After changing the oil and running a bottle of seafoam through it, it runs like a top.

I've made a pretty decent side hustle of finding non running small engine items on FB marketplace and getting them running by cleaning the carb or putting a $10 carb from Amazon on them.

While we are on the subject of ethanol fuels I thought this older you tube would be of interest…..especially in marine/boating environments.
Unless you live in areas of consistent very low humidity, ethanol fuels will attract water which will collect in fuel tanks, fuel pumps, injection components and carbs.

Weren't the Lawn Boys cast Aluminum decks, That's why they were so light? We had one and I agree, Super Light!

I've got a cheap Murray that I got from Walmart 14 years ago, and it's still running strong. Run only ethanol-free gas, change the oil and spark plug as needed, clean the air filter, and run it dry to store in the winter. They'll last a long time with just a little bit of maintenance.

If you are always going to bag I would go with a Honda if you can find one. Love everything about mine except it is not a great mulching mower. Im all bluegrass and rye in my yard though.

Sure if you can find an older one that hasn't sold yet, but all new Honda mowers are electric.

I like my Ego push mower, though I will agree that it's not incredible for the piece of Bermuda in my Frankenstein-lawn, especially if it's a little overgrown. Still, the convenience outweighs that, and keeps me on schedule.

my FIL gave me an old Craftsman push mower probably 8 years ago. It was worn out back when he gave it to me. The height adjustment is held together with wire. Smokes like a sob for the first minute or so. Only thing I do to it is put non-ethanol gas in it and maybe top off the oil every once in awhile. That thing amazes me every time I get it out that it still runs. It's not my primary mower though, I only use it for a couple hard to get to areas that my ZT can't get in.

Bought my daughter an Ego. It's ok and she likes it. I've used a couple of times helping her and I think it is a little underpowered. Had to double cut some taller grass that my old craftsman would have chomped through no problem.

I bought a Honda at Southwest Mower on Willowbend in Houston. I got 21 years out of a Craftsman and the shop who did my tune ups on it said buy a Honda. They only sold larger commercial brands, so I went to SW. Nice folks, personal old school customer service. I am pretty sure they still sell them.
