My family's in the car business, and while box trucks aren't something we'd typically buy at auction, I'm continuously astonished at how inexpensive these are whenever I see them at run.

It's caveat emptor at car auctions, but you might strike up an acquaintance with a local car dealer and ask him to buy one for you (after his mechanic checks it out). I've witnessed cargo vans & box trucks both run for far less than your max.

You want a dealer auction, NOT a public auction. These guys always sem to have a lot of box/utility trucks & cargo vans.
