No whole home generator
No portable generator (yet)

What is your go to way to power your CPAP in an extended power outage?

I am going to guess a big powerbank, which one and what size?

Or would you instead install a through wall generator wall pass through and get a small gas' powered generator? If so what size?

I understand I need an inverter generator to provide "clean" power and not mess up the sensitive electronics of the CPAP and I understand I need to shut off the humidifier heat and the heated hose function to minimize power usage.

Time to think about whole home solutions but for now just want to survive the weekend. Cypress, TX area if that matters.

I believe they sell "clean" power inverters that run off a battery at Northern tool and Harbor Freight.

Maybe the correct size of one of those on an adequate deep cycle battery?

Could charge the battery with a vehicle during the day with jumper cables.

I know this sound redneck as all get out, but this is the OB and I believe it would work in a pinch.

If you don't run a heater/humidifier a 1000w powerbank I think should run any CPAP for a few days without re-charging. Add a solar panel to re-charge and you can run indefinitely and probably a heater/humidifier as well. Jackery/Bluetti/Anker etc.

I recently got this Bluetti, but have yet to really stress test it: https://www.bluettipower.com/products/elite-100-v2-portable-power-station

Years ago I bought a 12VDC power adapter for my CPAP to use while boondocking. All you need is a car battery to get several nights.

Now finding the power adapter on short notice may be a problem.

I have the same CPAP. I used it with a home battery pack during Hurricane Beryl for six nights. The battery pack powered my CPAP, an oscillating fan, and a phone charger all night with no issue.

UPS backup battery for computers will do enough and you can use it the rest of the year for protection of your computer. Best buy should have some today.

That is a heck of a sale on the Bluetti, 50% off. Thank you all, I have options now. After this weather event time to think about whole home solutions for the future.

I have a UPS under my nightstand for my CPAP only. We've had power go out in the middle of the night and I never noticed. Had it happen before the UPS and that wasn't a fun wake up lol.

Long time CPAP user here. I have and older CPAP that will actually hook up to a 12 volt car battery with alligator clips. But a much easier solution is to buy a jackery portable power bank and have it charged at all times. I can't sleep without a CPAP so I have lots of backup plans. I am the guy that takes two CPAPs on a long vacation sometimes.

Did you open up the UPS and cut the wires to the alarm buzzer? The UPS for my Internet modem/router starts beeping immediately when power goes out.

You can turn off the alarms. I have a couple of CyberPower ones on my computer and 5G wifi router. One has a button to turn off alarm and the other a hold down button sequence to shut the alarm off.
TexAgs: as long as we have each other, we will never run out of problems.

Jackery or similar battery unit. Get the solar panels for it to recharge during the day.

I use my goalzero yeti solar generator I bought many moons ago for camping as my emergency backup. Harbor freight has similar things now that are cheaper than goalzeo and probably get the jobs done.

Got me curious now so found this video, some good suggestions

So the guy in the video is saying the same thing as Hullaballo up above, that is

Deep cycle batter---->pure sine way inverter---->cpap

Or you could go

Deep cycle--->battery clip to female cigarette lighter adapter---->dc converter with male cig lighter on one end and the other end that plugs into cpap--->cpap

And apparently the DC option is much more efficient. Is that right?

I'm in a similar situation and bought this last year. Works when hunting off grid too. It's awesome. Ecoflow. Primary use is to run the WiFi and cell phones/iPads because all my kids won't mind freezing as long as they have internet and phones ….

We bought a whole home generator a number of years ago for hurricanes. Haven't needed it for that, but has sure been useful for other things.
