I have a Nice and a Liftmaster both right now. Been happy with both. Probably like the Nice a little more. They are both are a few years old and I don't have an app for either one so can't help there.

King Ranch-style bump gate. Greatest innovation ever. No maintenance, 100% reliability.

Kinda the standard for many ranches in my area is Apollo Gate openers. I had three on the ranch in Texas and one at our ranch now.
No troubles for years and worked for very heavy gates and lighter. https://apollogateopeners.com/store/swing-gate-openers.html

We had one on a barn gate road that my dad traveled a lot. Actually it worked surprisingly well for over 8 damn years. I gave my dad hell for it .. it surprised me. I don't like them but ….it did the job.

I have a US Automatic opener on our gate. This thing is 20+ years old, and still going strong. I did have to replace the mother board last year ($200).

The guy that does fence/gate work in my area says that he tries to steer customers toward the US Automatics. Claims he has way less call backs than with the NICE units.

I will say that the customer service/tech reps that I dealt with on the phone are the most knowledgeable and patient people. I only say this, because I haven't had to deal with other companies.

Highly recommended.
Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Seven years into my second MM opener, first one lasted 13 years (it was downright crude in adjustments, compared to any make now offered). MM quit making parts for it, gave me a great credit for #2 unit.
Occasional glitches, but very easy to troubleshoot,

Several neighbors went with Apollo, custom gates/entry's, many have had repeat repair calls. Granted, most are not mechanically inclined, likely stumped at any issue.

When I see how MM, or any brand, are often installed on some rickety farm gate pole, it's not a surprise when you later see it hanging disconnected.

My dad used the Son System on all our gates. Voice activated, though it sometimes is sluggish to begin operating early in the morning. His lasted through my high school years and still worked on holidays when I was in college.

Don't recommend the Wife System. Not reliable and fails to work on cold days, rainy days, too sunny days, at night, etc.

A slide gate has much less issues IMO from having both.

Another vote for US Automatic if they have a system that will work for you. I have several on my place here. NICE is part of the Mighty Mule deal. I have had mighty mule and they have all worked fine for me, but I am extremely handy and can troubleshoot their motherboards with my own equipment using their own tech documents myself.....the fact that I have become as competent in it as their tech support should tell you enough about them to steer you toward something else.

The only time I have ever had issues with my US Automatic over the 7 years I have owned them, I called the company for tech support and I have talked to the same 2 tech guys every single time.

They all speak my language and have a similar accent as myself that I can not only hear, but understand. No pressing 1 for English. They help over email or phone.

I am at a place in life that I will pay a premium for this kind of quality and support.

My Dad always considered me the automated gate opener…
