I'm looking for something that knocks down the English lab oil stink. Furminator was my previous favorite but I feel it changed after Covid. The feed store shampoos also leave something to be desired.

Get a medicated shampoo with ketoconazole or miconazole and an ear rinse with the same ingredient.

I swear by Keto-hex shampoo. Leave on for 5 min and completely rinse off. Kills bacteria and yeast that make the smell. Safe to use weekly.

To add on to what Scotty said, make sure the dog doesn't have a skin or ear infection.

My vet recommends plain Dawn dishwashing liquid. After we switched to that, my beagles stopped smelling like Fritos.

Really? It's not too drying? I may try that.

I've always had good luck using these livestock water/scrub brushes. TSC used to carry them, but I didn't see any online. Really helps get down to the skin and separate all the hair.

Their skin and ears are fine, they just get stinky faster than I would care for lol. I do probably need to get a brush to really get in there. I will try some of these out-thanks!

Bought the keto hex and the scrubber and bathed the black lab yesterday. Even waited the 5 minutes which sucks because she is the hardest to bath. Didn't get to the chocolate lab before the front hit so he will be done later this week. Thanks again!

Chewy and Valley Vet Supply have several options. We used to use them on show pigs.

Just wanted to chime in and say that I ordered the Keto Hex Shampoo from Amazon and we had a rubber brush already, so I have done 2 applications, a week apart, and the difference in our dog's itchuness and smell has been amazing.

We do 1 wash and then "marinate" for 5 minutes which she tolerates ok. I actually plug the drain and have her stand in the soapy water to soak her paws as well.

She is a yellow lab with English blood I guess, and has that oily buildup-our other yellow lab is not like that and is much silkier.

Anyway, thanks from the white stupid idiot.

Do you use it on Chester also or is it just for you?

Related rec: Waterpik Pet Wand Pro Shower Attachment. It makes dog bath time easier and efficient. We have it connected to the pool bath shower head, but you can also use it on an outdoor faucet with the adapter. Highly recommended.
