Have a 10+ year old Toshiba 17inch laptop that is showing it's age. Just use for basic task, desktop replacement, etc. I would prefer to have a built in ethernet port,dedicated DC plug in, and black/dark grey casing(shows less dirt/wear)so that narrows it down a lot what is out there. Would something like this be overkill?

Hard to know if it's overkill if we don't know what you're using it for.

I had a friend asking for 17" laptop recommendations about a week and half ago. After all of my hunting, this is the exact laptop i recommended to him.

Just basic stuff, emails, web surfing, maybe watch occasional movie/streaming programs, etc. No actual gaming. Any specific reason why you recommended this one?

He uses Autocad quite a bit, so i was looking for something with dedicated GPU while still staying around the $800 range.

If you don't have a need for the dedicated GPU, this one is probably overkill.

That Lenovo is honestly a pretty good price for what you're getting in a 17" laptop
