People assume Mahomes will turn it on like he always does and carry them to a win streak, and because that belief dictates where the opening line is set it's gonna be set higher initially because if it's any lower all the money will come in for KC. It has to be high enough to insure at least some people are willing to bet on Dallas.
It'll drop from there because sharp money that recognizes historical trends aren't very useful when it comes to this stuff will come in for Dallas at a 4-5 point spread. Objectively KC is bad on the road right now.

Sure you can. Pay your most impactful players, hit on some good defensive draft picks, and fill in the holes with trades/smart money free agency signings.
The interior DL is great now. We need another edge rusher (Clowney has been good so maybe re-sign him for cheap). CBs have been better the last couple of weeks, but draft another impact player there. Safety is a big need. And another top end LB to pair with Overshown.
The rest of the defense and depth can be filled out.

Pickens is either gonna have to sign a team friendly deal (not cheap, just one that works with our cap) or he's going to get tagged. It's as simple as that, he's not going anywhere.

When looking at the wild card standings, it's important to remember that we just have to match the other teams win totals. Because of our tie, as long as we can match the # of wins there won't be any tie breakers to worry about.
But we got a long ways to go still... we gotta get to 10 wins minimum (which means we gotta go 5-1 down the stretch and the Detroit game is a must win). It's possible that we'll have to win all 6.

Absolutely agree. I think they have a 2 year window opening up. This team should go all in on "F them picks" and nuke future cap space.

They could make it work. In this game, it's all about how effectively you can kick the can down the road. There have been all these teams - like Philly - predicted to be in cap hell but it never happens because they know how to keep spreading it out
Eventually you take a hit on a guy or two, but then you restructure some others. Rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat, rinse and repeat. It never really catches up partly because the cap keeps going up

2) he's taken his foot off the gas after getting paid. Lends to hearing the defenders footsteps before a catch.
3) he's feeling pressure from Pickens clearly being t he better receiver
4) he sees the season as over and not worth the effort, doesn't explain week 1 though

I think it's a touch of Diggs Disease, although not nearly as severe. Got comfortable $$$ but also saw the organization trade Micah and therefore send signals they aren't in win now mode, so the foot came off the gas a bit. He's friends with Diggs, so whatever is going on there doesn't seem to be helping

One interesting dynamic to watch is that while Pickens is a great WR, he's pretty sloppy off the field. Late to meetings, missing meetings, etc. While you think a guy playing that well would push Lamb, I suspect Lamb's work off the field has slacked because Pickens is really half-assed in that regard. Mix in the Diggs and Micah stuff too. Clearly Lamb fell into that on the Vegas trip. He may not have the other issues Pickens does, but again, I get the feeling he's pulled back.
If you get a 1 and some change by trading him to an AFC contender, I think you do it…

I wouldn't be too eager to pull something. I think he'll come around. I love how Pickens has played, but that dude is crazy. I would not be putting all my eggs in that basket. Lamb put it on the line last year playing hurt, so the fire is there somewhere, just needs a restoking.
I think it's just an overall lack of focus, and a touch of Pickens being that guy. Probably thought this team was dead in the water and they had Pickens as the guy while he was out, so why put the effort in at the end of the season.
Lamb potential suitors: Patriots, Bills, 49ers and Packers. Though I dont think the packers have any picks to trade so cross them out.

They aren't trading Ceedee. His cap hit next year is like 38 million dollars. He'll bounce back.
