Agreed. He had fallen off my radar recently, until they announced he was cut. Had high hopes that he would turn into a good one for us based on his tape from LSU, but just never materialized.

Really couldn't afford to miss on him. With where we will (probably) be drafting, the last thing we need is to start reaching for CB when the top guy(s) are off the board.

Now we can focus on safety and front 7 guys.

I know it's expensive but I like the idea of having a DT rotation of Osa, Q and Clarke. Some pundits are already saying to let Clarke go to save money but it makes no sense. They can figure it out money wise as its too important of a position.

With the cap continuing to go up and up and up almost exponentially, I think you ride out the rest of Clark's contract and you really don't think twice about it. You're paying your defensive ends next to nothing, and chances are high we're going to draft another d-end in the first this next year so you'll also be paying that guy next to nothing.

On top of that you're almost certainly going to cut Diggs, Wilson and Hooker at some point and get rid of their money as well (that's 28 million dollars right there). The only argument I see is if you really wanted to go out and get a guy like Maxx Crosby this offseason. You'd for sure have to find a way to get Clark's contract off the books in that scenario imo. But other than that you keep all three of Osa, Williams and Clark. I don't think we recognize just how good of a DT performance we just witnessed on Monday night by those three guys. It was ELITE.

I think we need to keep Clark too, but I think we need see if he will sign an extension. He's something like $23m on the cap next year. That's a really high number. If you could extend him for a couple of years and bring that cap number down, that would be optimal..

Yup! It's only a 1 game sample size (against a bad team), but to me, Osa appeared much more active and effective in his first game playing with Q, Clark & the boys.

I have been disappointed with him this year... But now that we have a legit rotation and we are stacking some big time Dogs on the line, you could see him impacting the LOS like we are use to seeing.




PS: Not to mention, we have been desperate for a solid DT rotation for years... I don't think I can stomach finally getting it and immediately letting it go!

I noticed a couple of the guys on the ticket, mainly Bob, discussing going to more of a 5 man front so those 3 DTs can be on the field at the same time. It's not something I'm super informed about.

Anyone have thoughts about some type of 3-4 alignment that would allow all three of those guys on the field together?

5 man front would suggest more of a 5-2 wouldn't it? Don't think we have the LBs to run anything resembling a 3-4

5-2 we'd have basically 3 tackles and 2 DEs.

3-4 would be more 1 NT and 2 DEs and 2 LBs for outside edge

yeah, 5 man front might not be the right way to characterize it...

If you look at a 'typical' 3-4 alignment, it does appear that 5 defensive players are on the LOS.

As for LBers, Ezeiruaku has a decent OLBer profile for a 3-4. The rest of the group, probably not so much. I will say, it seems like a 3-4 would allow you to move Overshown around a lot and use him lots of diff ways, even as a rusher, at times.

We have some guys who could run it. Just not enough of them. We'd be gassed pretty quick for lack of rotation

I think this is the first game since week 2 where I will be watching the Cowboys with an active interest in what the game might mean for the rest of the season.

Vikings, Commanders and Giants gets you to 8 wins and then you probably have to win two of three from KC, Detroit and LA. Only Detroit has looked good recently but their defense can get shredded at times.

Very low margin for error but this team has a shot

KC and Detroit are probably the two most winnable of the three. The rams have looked really good for the past month.

I hate this team.

I just hope this game lights a fire under some guys on this team. I've felt for some time CD has kinda mailed it in this season, so with actual life maybe they'll lock in a bit more. Idk.

I'll also say this; as much as that first half got away from the Schotty and those boys, he has this team as mentally as tough as I can remember, and that's all with dealing with the tragedy of a teammate. Really impressive stuff.

Oh, well then I'll stay chargers and chiefs are the most winnable.

Gotta win 5 of the last 6 to even have a shot, though.

Exactly. They will get knocked out because of that.

Or week 1 against philly. It's the NFL, losses like that happen all the time.

When you're this borderline of a team you cant afford it though.

The good news is there is a ton of games between the teams in front of us. The Packers/Bears/Lions/Eagles/Bucs/49ers/Panthers all play a round robin of sorts to end the year while we basically play all bottom feeders and AFC teams.
