How long do you want to ignore this user?
AG
Im in a 12 team PPR league where I'm first to pick my draft position.
I had thought to go #3 as I can still get a tier 1 RB and potentially get a Tier 2 WR in 2nd round.

Any opinions on that or just don't overthink it and go #1?

Edit: Standard setup - QB, WR, WR, RB, RB, TE, Flex (WR/RB/TE), K, and DEF. 6 Bench, 1 IR

Depends. Superflex?

How many wr/rbs and flex do you start

I guess the question you need to ask yourself is where/who is the cutoff you are willing to let go?

Meaning if you were fine with Chase, bijan, lamb etc to go off the board and felt just as confident in Gibbs then take the 4 spot.

I personally wouldn't move past 5 as that's getting too cute and think I would land either 3 or 4. WR 4-11 is a giant bag of players you could all make a case for top5 finishers. It's also greatly dependent on how you want to construct your roster

Do you value RBs over WRs or vice versa,

Objectively I think the 4th pick is the easiest to draft from. You are all but guaranteed a top RB in the 2nd round and have some good WR options in 3 and 5.

If you take the 1st pick, the problem i have seen is that with picks 24 and 25 the best RB is either Chase Brown or Kyren. Going 2 Bengals back to back is uncomfy but id do it. Getting any piece of the Rams to me is also gross.

Early on, I'd value RB as that talent pool drops quickly, however, you can still get great WR's into the 2nd to 3rd rounds.

Ended up selecting the #3 spot. My strategy is getting Bijan, Gibbs, or Barkley, and hope for a run on RBs and a random QB to push a lot of the Tier 2 WRs down to #22 pick. Makes the #27 pick a wild card...get another good WR, or get another RB before they are all spares?

if this is full PPR...I would probably take Chase at #1...and don't look back

it is easier drafting at the turn. Because if there are 2 players you like...you know you have to take them

as an aside...Chase Brown is not making it past pick #20 in any of my drafts

But that 2/3 turn for the #1 pick is awful. At that pick you dont want to go TE nor QB because you could miss out on a rb or wr run too easily.

To me the tier breaks by pick #:
1
2-5
6-7 (JJ and CMC)
8-14
15-21

22-36

The 4-7 draft spot is easy. Much better round 2 value relative to cost of round 3 value.

You get to pick your draft position? How does that work? I've only ever seen randomized orders in any league I've been in.

This. Chase is the consensus 1.01in PPR this year. No need to go against the consensus, just take Chase then get as much ADP value as you can to fill out your roster. Not choosing Chase first in PPR feels like folding pocket Aces preflop in poker because "sometimes they lose".

The question is should he take spot 1 or spot 4 in the draft.

Of course you take Chase with the first pick.

Chase + Kyren/McBride vs Gibbs + Bucky/Chase Brown

I think i'd take Gibbs + Bucky/Chase Brown.

Then for the rest of the draft I don't feel like you have to reach or be afraid of missing out on runs.

We've used randomizers before, ncaa tournament bracket finish, and this year used dominos (how many flips it takes to get snake eyes). All of these have been used to determine the order that each player can pick their draft position. I suppose it evolved from some that won #1 not necessarily wanting the #1 spot.

This was my take. I had Chase last year and he was very dependable for points. In a 12 team HALF PPR, I just didn't like the possibility of a run on RBs leaving me with some bottom Tier 2 or Tier 3 RBs at the 24 spot. Getting a RB at #3, then a great WR at #22 just seemed like the safe play. The 3rd round pick 27 is the wild card. Might be some serious overthink on my part, just didn't want to get stuck with a bunch of spares at RB.

I have pick 4 today….with Chase and Bijan gone, would you rather have Gibbs or Saqueon?

I'm 4 in my draft tomorrow and have been planning on Gibbs. The historical stats showing performance drop off following a 350+ touch season are hard to argue against. But Barkley is a physical freak of nature so…

After Bijan is gone.....I'd go with Gibbs, Barkly, Jacobs, Irving, Brown, Henry, Jeantry,, McCaffrey, Williams, Taylor

Or at least the site I pay $80 a year for lists them in that order for PPR leagues.
