...even though some days it may seem that way. Democratic mayor in California pleads guilty to being a Chinese communist agent. Her campaign manager/husband has already pled to the same charge.

At least she was a willful agent, rather than one of the many dupes who don't understand how evil both China and communism are.

I can find nothing at all on her background. I'm assuming she is a Chinese national who emigrated, and presumably is now a US citizen since she holds an elected office.

edit - I found a Linkedin profile listing her as a director of "Ltitle Stanford Academy". I wonder if that is support to be "Little Stanford Academy". Some sort of learing center? That runs on government grants?

Most American democrats are far to the right of traditional socialists/communists economically, and far to the left of them socially.

The average social views of a Democrat in 2026 America were/are vigorously and often violently suppressed in most communist societies throughout history, and the number of true economic socialists within the halls of Democrat power are few.

Most Americans, including most democratic voters, have no idea what a true communist even is. The fact that so many Americans think the Nordic countries are socialist/communist and that China is a true communist economy illustrates this fact.

Virtually all American democrats, voters and politicians alike, support some variation of a market economy whether they realize it or not. True socialists are exceedingly rare in this country. Now, much of that has to do with how ignorant the average American is and its true many self proclaimed socialists simply don't realize they aren't actually socialists. But the fact remains most of them aren't actually socialists.

Actual economic socialists around the world view American democrats as capitalists with a somewhat bizarre mishmash of views on social and moral policy.

Wealth redistribution is a cornerstone of the dem party and has been forever. That puts them squarely in the camp of leftism along with communism and socialism. They also are corrupt as hell and use the system to empower themselves, that doesn't really jibe with ideologically pure communism but it does square quite well with the reality of communism and socialism as it is practiced everywhere.
