Clay Jenkins is the judge for Dallas County. He should be there as it is his job to oversee any emergency response.

Ted Cruz is a US Senator. He has zero authority in Texas to do anything.

I don't normally care to defend politicians but the amount of sheer ignorance our fellow Texans displayed when this first came out legitimately kinda shocked me. So many did not know/could not comprehend that our Senators are Texas's federal representatives and as such, have no authority over state issues. I think I was shocked by how much pushback I got when I presented some with this literal irrefutable fact. I wasn't even trying to be political about it. Just basic government function knowledge.

I think this is when it finally sunk in that more people than not, would rather fight defending a demonstrably wrong point than just admit that they are wrong about something. (At least in my personal experience so far) A deeply serious character/societal flaw.

As a Dallas County resident, I'm GLAD Jenkins is in Costa Rica. I'll head up a fund to keep him there.

I wish the rest of the County Commissioners and City "leaders" would go there or elsewhere out of the country FAR more often.

Yeah, when he was up for reelection a few years ago post COVID there was a lot of hope and thought we could vote him out and get a Republican in there.
