is war or sanctions justified if a foreign power is caught perpetuating our crisis ?

Say Russia, China, NK, or even Iran are caught using significant cyber tools to increase current domestic tensions; tools such as inflammatory messaging, triggering false alarms, or even stage crises events. To be honest it would be a cheap yet effective way to inflict great damage on our country given a quarter of the population are going nuts.

If I was them I'd at least do a risk/reward evaluation. And I bet they are and have been doing a lot of messaging and propaganda.

Thoughts.

Who cares what you call it. If you **** with us we probably going to **** you back.

As to whether it's happening… yes, it is happening and at a scale we have never experienced. And the left is knee deep in bed with them.

Wait…so if Russia actively employs bots to amplify disinformation on Twitter they should be sanctioned?

So, as with kinetic conflicts every engagement is with bullets and every cyber event is just a bot, they'll all the same? Is that what you are implying.

Personally, I thought there was a huge range of cyber intensity and targeting and that low level prodding has been going on forever. I just assumed that people understood that. Im sorry I confused you.

Proportional response would be justified.

Russia and China should save their $$ and let the DemocRATS in this country do the work for them, like they are right now.

We don't really do wars any more but if they did things similar to your examples, I would definitely use sanctions. Things like not allowing the sale of Chinese made junk at Walmart and Amazon, confiscate any real estate owned in the United States, ban their citizens from attending our colleges. Play hardball with them.

no need to speculate, we know already they've been doing this for at least the last couple decades and most likely longer. it's also fair to assume we're doing the same in the other direction. a cold information war, if you will.
