I have some folks I am willing to nominate for extradition.

And we could use a gulag for the deranged liberals working to ruin this Country. Lock em up.

Cut a significant portion of government spending.
See if there are any significant repercussions for specific programs and if people care.
Reinstate the few programs funding that are wanted/needed.
Profit.

If we continue the same old wait and discuss what can be cut and wait until the public fully agrees and wait until the political climate is right, nothing significant gets cut.

I'll bet there's a mental health industrial complex that uses federal dollars to run a scam similar to Somalis in Minneapolis and Columbus.

I'm ready for citizen journalists to jump in and do the work legacy media is afraid to do...again.

So many comments deriding addicts, like being an addict is democrat or republican thing? All the drug addicts in my family are maga or dead. Besides me, but I'm sober now...

These programs help people like them. I'm not sure where all the negativity towards addicts comes from, but it's certainly not from a place of having lived directly with it.

So weird. Glad they got these funds cleared up.

I'll say this...I never understood drug addiction and just thought it was a result of weak-willed individuals.

Then I received dilaudid in an emergency visit and my perspective changed in one warm, tingly, happy wave that passed through my entire body as the medicine entered my bloodstream.

My perspective and empathy for that group of people was changed significantly that day. There is still the question of willpower but I don't start and stop on that point anymore.

Why is it the responsibility of the federal government to pay to treat people's mental health and substance abuse problems?

I have neither, so why am I essentially paying for it for others?!?!?!

I'd guess 99% of our debt is the government doing things it has no business doing, and is unconstitutional as well though has been deemed legal.

What you say is 100% correct, but take that funding away and people like the OP would freak out, calling you a fascist, and pull the chaos like they are doing in Minnesota. The takers and leeches of this country have the providing tax payers over a barrel until normal people nut up and quit giving in to their ludicrous demands. It's the fatal flaw of any type of democracy when the takers vote themselves the treasury. Our republic is no different.
