Not really sure what the point was here. This is largely embarrassing for NATO.

No doubt you and many others do.

Back in the mid 90s the EU wienies got their panties in a wad over something and announced they were calling on member states to stand up their militaries and put a portion of them under EU's control. The goal was about five thousand personnel and related equipment. Estimated time frame to do that? Five to ten years.

No, read the short article. The intention was to show us (in other words, Trump) that NATO already has the ability to rapidly deploy to Greenland in the event of Chinese or Russian aggression. I don't think they made their point very well. LOL.
