My father took his security clearance very seriously. As someone here once said: we are not a serious nation. I just cannot comprehend this level of of stupidity.

There are no secrets in Secret Service where poon is concerned. Bush 41's detail was notorious for chasing coeds and could have been easily compromise honeypot operations.

My sister's best friend married one of 41's detail and he was still married with kids when he first asked her out.

After Butler, the SS response to that and this the quality of the SS is highly suspect. Did they stop screening people?

I've been saying for many years that the USSS is worse now than it was, at least in a lot of ways, under JFK and previous years. The work the agency did to clean things up and improve its processes has all but died and multiple "administrations" are to blame. Bush 43, and sadly, the first Trump admin, really did little, it appears, to stop the bleeding. The real blame goes first to Clinton and then to Obama who both tried to turn the agency into one big DEI operation -- first by the "leadership" promotions and then later by new agent hires. However, as stated, neither GWB nor Trump did much of anything to change that and it almost cost both of them their lives at one time or another.

I didn't think, until the summer of 2024, that it would be possible to get close enough to a POTUS to actually make a successful attempt and thought a Dallas type of scenario was completely out of the question. Now, Trump finishing his term is realistically an open question due to the lack of quality of the USSS. He needs to fix this and should have started on day 1 last year.
