Bill and Hillary Clinton refused on Tuesday to testify in the House's Jeffrey Epstein investigation, escalating a monthslong battle with its Republican leader, Representative James R. Comer of Kentucky, who quickly said he would take steps to hold them in contempt of Congress.

"Every person has to decide when they have seen or had enough and are ready to fight for this country, its principles and its people, no matter the consequences," the Clintons wrote in a lengthy letter to Mr. Comer, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, which was obtained by The New York Times. "For us, now is that time."

Interesting move. I know folks like to say "if you have nothing to hide, you have nothing to fear" and I usually reject that, but this could get interesting.

Really haven't paid much attention to the Clintons but was there a motion to quash and a judge ordered them to attend?

Hmm. Okay. Kind of surprised at that. Guess they didn't want to risk having a court order against them?

Interesting game of chicken. If congress does nothing, won't this effectively set a precedent that a congressional summons is completly meaningless?

I mean we already know that but makes ignoring one inconsequential.

For the ignorant, what's the worst that could happen to them and how long could it take?

Hunter Biden, Eric Holder and even Bill Barr set that bar already.

The worst that could happen is that they go to jail.

Seeing as how Trump is president for the next three years, your guess is better than mine.

Very interesting that HRC says she is doing this for the "country". She HATES what this country stands for and has spit in its face for her entire lifetime. Witch.

On the one hand attempts by both "sides" to defend or run interference for Epstein is gross and quite frankly says enough.

My guess is that Bill and Hillary at a MINIMUM knew at the time enough that deep down they should have said something at the time but for motives tied to personal convenience, favors, and general political convenience they stayed silent. That of course is completely ignoring the portrait of Bill in a blue dress and red pumps. The mere existence of that painting in Epstein's home is weird enough to demand a solid answer.

What part of Clinton banging an intern in the oval office makes you think he wouldn't partake in Epstein's activities if he knew about them? At least with a 16 or 17 year old.

Yeah, there's literally zero chance Bill didn't get himself some young strange through Epstein.

In fact, the preponderance of evidence shows Epstein had way more ties with the DNC at large then he did any Republicans. It's kind of wild to watch the dems cut off their nose to spite their face in this whole ordeal. The TDS is real.

Believe me, I'm absolutely not here to defend the Clintons. Even if Bill kept every bit of side action above 18 I'm just saying my guess is they probably have enough first hand info about what was going on that they're obviously willing to take a Contempt over sitting down and even taking the 5th on direct questions.

If they don't show they will get a strongly worded letter at best. No reason for them to show since there is no real threat of anything approaching actual legal reprocussions.

I'm gonna catch some grief here, but I'd do the same thing. Congress wants the Clintons to show up and answer all manner of questions regarding trips they took decades ago, hoping to embarrass them. They'll just be punching bags for pos Congressmen who get up on their soap boxes to get a sound byte. Having said that, if a victim comes forward with allegations then I want Bubba grilled.

If I were their attorney I would tell them to say absolutely nothing even if they did show up to testify.

What difference, at this point, does it make?

Even that statement was constructed so she had at this point put in between difference and does so it couldn't be quoted What difference does it make.

That lady is evil. But, Bill I think is totally out of it. I'd put his mental state on par with Biden.

Ah yes...they're not willing to testify, about their own actions, for the good of the country.

See guys, this is all about protecting America. Stop obsessing about the bad stuff they did, it's not about them...it's about the country.

Trump arrest full recap: Mugshot, surrender, what's next in Georgia election case

Quote:

Former President Donald Trump was booked at the Fulton County jail Thursday night on state charges that he conspired to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election in Georgia.
Trump was fingerprinted and a booking photo, commonly known as a mugshot, was taken of the former president and later released to the public. Trump is facing charges in four separate criminal cases, but this is the first time he had a mugshot taken.
Trump is facing 13 separate counts in Georgia, including a racketeering charge and several fraud and false statement counts.
