As of 2022, 1,525 Jews lived in Mississippi, with fewer than 300 living in the Delta Region, supported by 14 Jewish congregations, two of which have a full-time rabbi.
I never doubted there were any jews in MS, but I had to Google just to be sure.
That's one thing I don't get. There are so few Jews around that I've hardly ever met one enough to form an opinion about them as a group one way or the other. Maybe people in Hollywood, Wall Street or the diamond industry would have more exposure, but I would think for the 99% remainder of us it's mostly out of sight, out of mind most of the time. And the few randoms I met on my trip to Israel were extremely polite and considerate. I don't get it.
I have met many secular Jews. I have also met Germans, Brits, French, Lebanese, Egyptians, Indians etc. I have also met Christians, Mormons, Hindis etc. You would never know someone is a secular Jew unless they came out and told you. I suspect that you have met more secular Jews then you think you have.
