Three years ago we were told Lizzo was beautiful and that big was healthy. The former is subjective I guess, but the later is not. Not so much anymore. Check out this pretty dark ad for Eli Lilly. Of course they're gonna push their glp-1. The support of body positivity never was sincere. Just like the climate change narrative slowing with the development of data centers. Always follow the money. It never lies.

https://adage.com/creativity/work/aa-lilly-my-focus/

They paid for their wars with your tax dollars and also with your untaxed dollars. Inflation is theft.

Not being a fatass takes work. These body positivity people were never going to put in the work. As soon as a shortcut became available they took it. Body positivity was always about coping with being fat instead of doing the work that was required to be healthy.

Have seen this ad multiple times during the NFL playoffs. I hate it. I think it's intellectually insulting. I also think this person is not real and is AI which is largely irrelevant.

Have to get them fat so you can sell them drugs to get skinny.

Then as soon as they stop the meds, the weight comes back and back to the meds they go.

Never ending cycle to bring in the money.

It's a good ad. I like it when the message is "STFU AND MIND YOUR OWN BUSINESS".

It's not just fat people that have to work at being healthy. Most people aren't. Just because you're a "healthy weight" doesn't mean you're healthy. I know overweight people that are far healthier than their "normal" weight peers. Genetics is a mother****er and some of us need to work at it to stay healthy. As a young man, I had trouble gaining weight. I could burn through 3500 calories a day…eating anything I wanted and never gain a single pound. I would do exactly that to gain any sort of weight at all. Not exactly healthy. Now that I'm older, my metabolism slowed down a bit and it's easier to maintain a "proper" weight whatever the hell that is. Hard to tell since they move the goalposts on health every 4 months. Either way, if I eat 3,000 calories now, and then Go outside and do any minuscule amount of physical ranch work, I'll still lose weight.

I think the best thing is for people to just mind their own *********business unless it's a loved one that you have a vested interest in or someone that has pinged you for help.

I have no idea of someone else's struggle in life and I'm in position to comment on it. I have no idea what it's like to feel hungry all day long and know I can't grab a tasty snack because it will cost me. I eat what I want when I want it, all day, any day, I don't have a single inkling of what someone with different genetics suffers through.

Well, they kind of killed "mind your own business" when the woke pushed fats on us as beautiful and healthy.

It's also kind of hard to "mind your own business" when we pay for so many unhealthy lifestyles, in particular obesity, via federal programs.

I've seen the ad several times as well and frankly I didn't really get it unless it was to send the message that big pharma will fix this. I guess.

The message I get from it is this:

"I'm fat.

I've tried every diet and nothing works.

So now I'm going to do Lillys shot and don't judge me for it."

It's marketing propaganda. It takes work to get as fat as the guy is in this ad. You seriously have to try and get that fat.

And now we are supposed to feel bad about it and guilty for asking the question, "How did you let yourself get that fat?"

As someone that was 636lbs/6'7" at one pt, it takes zero work to get that fat. Just eating a metric **** ton, all day, e'ry day.

Now am 275 to 280, depending. At 6'6". No drugs, just eating like a human and not ten humans.

I believe there are some people that simply can't help it. Either there's something wrong with their system such as metabolic syndrome since childhood. I'm not talking about your average dude that just got fat after being married and drinking beer. I mean the whole life obese people. I don't think they can change. And if medication can help them, it's probably worth the side effects.

Well until you start paying for everyone, don't worry about everyone. We used to value being an individual in this country. Guess those days are gone.

Had an aunt that was like a whale. She blamed metabolism, thyroid, genetics etc. My uncle started having an affair and they got divorced. She shed the weight like a snake shed it's skin. This was way back before meds, stomach stapling, etc. She simply started eating right again.

Had gastric, which saved my life, and dropped to 350. Then eventually gained weight to 430ish, lost down to 380 or 390 for awhile. Then lost 40 and was 350ish for years. Lost 80lbs or so about 18months ago and stayed in that area since.

Pharma doesn't get them fat. That is self induced by the individual. The weight comes back because they won't make the permanent lifestyle changes to keep the weight off. Don't blame Pharma. Blame the individuals.

As a society we shouldn't celebrate fatness, there is nothing positive about it.

I let myself get fat. It slowly happened over years and years. Old and fat is a bad combo - very hard to make a dent. I tried several different approaches to no avail. I worked with doc and decided to start Zep about 9 months ago. I've dropped almost 60 pounds. My workouts are easier and so much more effective. Best decision I've made. So much healthier and I'm motivated to stay here.

I paid for the meds out of pocket. I don't understand the hate for these meds. They can be life changing.

It's reasonable to ask people to mind their own business until they're asked to pay for obesity caused healthcare, forced to share space with on an airplane and have their kids told fat is the new cool. Everyone has their struggles but forcing society to celebrate them is the problem.

have their kids told fat is the new cool normal and it's not their fault, because that has nothing to do with them eating like pigs and acting like lazy fat slobs with a mouth full of Doritos, so instead of living and eating better, take magical drugs, and make it seem like they fixed their weight problem even though they literally did nothing but buy a quick fix

Also had gastric surgery, best decision of my life, went from 319 to 192 and have maintained 204 since 2023....whatever tool you use to lose the weight is just that, a tool. There is no silver bullet. It's a mind game first and foremost, I still maintain my diet but I have relaxed on tracking macros, but I make damn sure that I'm lifting weight twice a week and running 2-3 days per week. The scale numbers have become less important to me as I see physical transformation in muscle development and how clothing fits....and this is all over 50 years old too! I hate that I didn't do this 20 years ago.

As for the GLP1 users, I wish them well but as many have said, if they don't change their life, they are only buying a band-aid

This. You want to be a big 'ole fat, become diabetic, and shorten your life? Have at it. Just don't expect me to pay for your dialysis and treatment for the host of comorbidities that are associated with diabetes. Telling/reaffirming people that there is nothing wrong with obesity via body positivity Is immoral.

Props to those here who have shed the weight, however you did it.

I personally think the gastric bypass is an extreme way to do it as it messes with your body's natural function permanently, but so be it.

As I've posted before, I've lost about 80 lb in my late 50s - early 60s - and I did it the old fashioned way. It can be done, but it requires a lot of discipline and focus.

Now I'm off to Camp Gladiator at 5 AM. That's the kind of discipline I'm talking about.

As ive already said many times on weight threads, I've lost close to 45 lbs the last couple of years by just quit drinking sodas, drinking lots of water and eating more smaller meals during the day instead of huge meals while taking slower bites and not gulping down my food. I also take vitamin D with k-2 which most peoples body doesn't get enough of. It does suck to have to by new pants regularly though.
