The Air Force is a viable alternative to military service.

JK - My dad and youngest brother were USAF. And my ass was saved in Iraq in 2003 by USAF A-10s.
When the truth comes out, do not ask me how I knew.
Ask yourself why you did not.

They do have the best chow, for sure! My father was also AF and Aggie; I don't remember his outfit. 11B all the way.

That's a great photo. I was expecting to see something about the Naval services since the thread title states the core values of the Navy and Marine Corps.

The official core values of the United States Air Force are: Integrity First, Service Before Self, and Excellence in All We Do. But that wouldn't fit in a thread title.

Army sleeps under the stars
Navy navigates by the stars
Air Force selects their hotels by the stars

All joking aside, God bless all the men and women that do what so many in this country aren't willing or capable of doing.

All before 0900...

I love it. I'm a parent of an officer in the submarine fleet. Not to get too dramatic, but when our National Anthem is played this is how you honor our country and the millions who sacrificed to make our lives possible.

My brother is an Annapolis grad. Every time we visited the academy, we came away optimistic about our future knowing those young men and women were on our side.

As a dad of daughters, I'm also glad to see there are still some young men of note out there.

That's badass.

Recently I had the honor of a custom rifle build for an A10 pilot. From start to finish, this was my favorite project to date. Call sign is UBER.

We fly the flags 24/7 lit appropriately. I want to install another pole in the backyard but not in the budget for the moment. The front yard flags are for the public. The back yard flags will be for us.

Regardless, I'm proud of the kid and thankful for all who have sacrificed so much.

My niece decided at a pretty young age that she wanted to be in the military, I think because she fell for a boy that was the leader of the ROTC at her school, and she liked the discipline it provided.

She is now an armorer for the AF, and she loves her job.

My grandfather was a US Army Air Corps Hump pilot in WWII. He flew 92 missions over the Himalayas.

Stories included packing along a pair of new unworn boots for hiking as well as promissory notes and a bag of gold coins for ransom to the Naga hillmen for every downed pilot they rescued from the jungle. The new boots protected against foot rot and you changed back to your worn boots when (if) you got back to base.

Best was how they flew a whole road grader one time and he figured out they could break it in half and fly it crossways through the plane. Sure no problem.

Tough stuff.

Our daughter was able to escort several family members onto the flight line, at various times. It is an opportunity that is NOT to be missed.

This included all three of her living grandparents, us, her husband, her brother and SIL, and about 7 different cousins.

Love the inter service rivalry. There was a fund raiser in Houston about 11 years ago. It was something like "22 with 22 for 22". It was a 22 Km walk for the 22 Vets that were committing suicide. I could not make it because we had recently moved near San Antonio. Had to be a combat Vet to be in the walk. It was organized by Marines. The uniform of the day for Marines was black or OD silkies and some shirt I don't recall. For Army was something similar with slight change.. Same minor change for Navy. For Air Force it was "black, OD, or pink silkies, this is an outdoor event and no air conditioning"

I thought it hilarious but never met a grunt who ever complained about AF close air support or tac air

VERY cool looking magazines.

Can I ask what kind of cartridge that rifle is designed for? Those don't look like AR mags.

Awesome pic. My co cousin and his wife are still serving in the AF. Met at the AFA and were stationed together in Del Rio then moved to Lackland to start off, then got married and have been stationed in some cool places. Currently over in Germany and in about 2 years they will officially "retire" in their mid 40s and move back to the states and live in Manitou Springs. That graduation ceremony was one of the coolest things I've been to.
