Since it's fairly close, we do go occasionally, and it's our local TV news from 90 miles away, so the mayor's race has crossed my mind. I did hear on talk radio the chick is or has supported raising the theft threshold (before jail) to $1500 which 'hey dumbass look at CA". We don't have to come spend money in your town and won't if you're a criminal coddler. I know she's a lib and the guy is selling as a conservative. Seems she ran for Congress or something recently.

What's the skinny?

While we're at it (I don't pay much attention but) outgoing mayor Nirenberg is never in the news. If he's a lib he's a unicorn since he doesn't seem to be a crazy loudmouth a-hole like most Democrats. What's up with him? Any ambition for bigger things? TIA

It many ways it also applies to Houston and Dallas. Big cities dominated by blue politics and getting more liberal. It extends beyond Texas to large urban areas across the US with limited exceptions.

I'm old enough to remember when Houston was a conservative town.

I don't think San Antonio has had a conservative mayor since before Lila Cockrell. While I don't care for Mrs. Beto, I don't get the hand-wringng. San Antonio was lost long ago.

Rolando Pablos is the conservative and got my vote in the election and will in the run-off. Voter turnout was pathetic for the election at about 7.5%.

Don't really follow the politics any more, but Police Chief McManus is a detriment to the city and should have been run out long ago. My encounters with him were in 2010 through 2016, and I firmly believe that he is in the pockets of the cartels and influences the adherence of the law on their behalf.
