Edit - dang it - wrong emoji

Went back a couple pages and didn't see another thread.

Documentary about Martin Short - his life, career and the tragedies he's endured over the years. Incredibly well done. One of - if not the - best doc's of this sort I've ever watched. If you're a fan of his it's a must watch.

Netflix.

I watched it this weekend and really enjoyed it as well. It was a bit different from the John Candy doc, which I loved, that recently came out but Martin Short is still alive so it's going to be a different kind of documentary. For a guy that's dealt with so much loss he just keeps going. I'm glad this got made before his daughter committed suicide, I just can't imagine adding that layer to the rest of the show. The main thing I took away is that it seems like everyone not just likes, but loves the guy. Their Christmas parties look like they're standing room only. Their cabin at the lake always had visitors as well. All these family videos he's surrounded by people who are having a good time. All the SCTV alumns, Tom Hanks, Steven Spielberg, Kurt Russell, Goldie Hawn, Steve Martin, and so on.

I recommend it as well, it's worth the watch.

I still remember when he bombed as the headliner for the inaugural First Yell back in 2002. Opened with a handjob joke about RC Slocum that drew audible groans and never recovered. Place was cleared out by the time his set mercifully came to an end.

Anyway, I hope this documentary is better than that.

LOL. I don't remember that. But I can assure you this doc is a vast improvement!

Haha! I was there! Pure Luck was one of my favorite movies growing up (and still is). I'm a huge Martin Short fan, but yes that was awkward.

I watched the first 30 minutes so far and seeing the home movies from a dinner party with Steve Martin, Eugene Levy, Martin Short, Catherine O'Hara and others in attendance is surreal. I can only imagine how entertaining of a night it would be to attend something like that.

Yeah, seeing them all - the SCTV crew, Steve Martin, A-listers Hanks and Spielberg - hanging out at the lake house and all singing Christmas carols together somehow humanized them all.

I really enjoyed this as well. Clifford is one of the silliest movies I have ever seen, and I loved it as a kid. I rewatched it recently and was still grinning ear to ear the entire time.

The old home movie where Tom Hanks and Marty were reenacting the scene from Butch Cassidy as Forrest Gump and Ed Grimley had me dying.

Was there as well. Agree it wasn't his finest moment.
