Been looking forward to this one. Currently 95% critics and audience on RT.

About to walk into the theater, will post my thoughts after.

I've been following writer/director Curry Barker for awhile now. He partners with Cooper Tomlinson (actor in Obsession) on a YouTube channel called "that's a bad idea". Good blend of comedy/horror. Excited to see this movie.

(I'm still hoping "jiblet" catches on.)

That was one of the freakiest movies I've seen in a minute.

A must watch for horror fans.

So there's one scene in particular that might be the creepiest thing I've ever seen in a horror movie, to the point where it actually made my skin crawl. I got creepy chills.

When she started moving backwards, as if in reverse. That **** creeped the hell out of me.

Also there was another crazy jump scare that the dude two seats next to me literally flew out of his seat.

This is an awesome one to watch in a crowded theater.

Watching this tomorrow night. I don't like scary movies anymore.

How was it BES?

Compare to watching The Ring for the first time

Honestly I never got the hype for The Ring.

To me this was far scarier and could become a modern classic in the vein of Hereditary or Talk To Me.

Also really liked the look of the movie. I don't know if it was shot on film or they did some work in post to give it the look, but it looked great.

I still can't watch the final scene anymore. If I didn't go with 2 girls, I would have been down in a fetal position.

God, I love The Ring. My favorite horror movie of all time.

They nailed the atmosphere. Constant dread

Sounds like I need to check it out.

What horror movie is it most similar to?

I would say it's most similar to Smile and Talk To Me.

Yeah, I was looking for your creepy scene. I guessed it but wasn't exactly sure.

We liked it - my daughter more than me. She thinks it's one of her favorites. I don't think I'll have nightmares. There were a lot of kids laughing throughout so that kind of took the punch away.

Overall nice flick. I might watch it again but probably not in a theater.

I thought it was very well done, incredibly unique, and effective as hell. It certainly delivers on the promise of the premise. But while I didn't mind the way-more-than-expected gore, man, it's just so relentlessly dark/bleak throughout. Which is of course often the point/prerogative of any horror flick. I just felt like it could have used a bit more levity, playfulness, a smidge of humor sprinkled throughout, etc. Instead, it was just too grim for my taste. Good, but oppressively, horrifyingly grim, when it felt like it needed more of a "fun" grim approach, a la Weapons.

We just got out of our showing. My spouse is disturbed by it.

It was a lot of fun, and that jump scare was jaw-dropping.

What was the deal when the alarm clock the first night Nikki slept over was stuck on 16:55?

The fact that her face was almost always in shadow at night but you catch the briefest reflection of light in her eyeballs made her appear so demonic. Really effectively shot throughout.

Overall what an incredible movie. That was some pure ass dread like Hereditary from the moment he snaps the willow. Yes there was a lot of humor as well but damn. Inde was incredible vacillating between love struck girlfriend, obsessive stalker, and the brief moments when she regains control.

There is one scene that lasts for several minutes. I ****ing knew it was coming, but the conversation keeps go, and probably for the first time in a long time when it happened I jumped out of my chair. I knew it was coming and still scared the hell out of me

I watched some of his short horror movies like the Chair and Warnings and dude has a style though this was probably most straight forward as a story

Loved this movie. Lot of laughing in my theatre (mind you, it was midnight and I doubt anyone was sober.)

I had just binged Blumhouse's new season of Worst Ex Ever on Netflix the day before, a drop I highly doubt was coincidental, and it was very much a "this is a 'horror movie', but these people are real!!!!! (Minus the wishes and whatnot)."

If you wanna watch a real horror movie, go watch the first episode of s2 of that.

Curry Barker is something like 26 or 27 years old. Impressive.

He has a found footage film on YouTube called Milk & Serial. It's not bad. That's what got him noticed and signed to UTA
