Been looking forward to this one.

Premieres in just over an hour, and reviews are strong too, currently at 88% on Rotten Tomatoes...

Kind of down to the wire movie thread for something you've been looking forward to. Normally you give us weeks, months, to years to prepare for these things.

Are you sure you didn't just realize it was dropping, had good reviews, and lacked a thread?

That theory might hold water had I not already posted two trailers for it in both the trailer thread and the January movies & series thread. Maybe I was waiting for reviews to drop to see if it was truly thread-worthy or not. That, and this isn't really a "discuss it for weeks in advance" kind of movie.

Arnold Schwarzenegger's 2014 movie Sabotage:

where he plays DEA agent John "Breacher" Wharton, leading a team that steals $10 million in drug money from a cartel safe house, only for it to disappear.

leading to a series of murders among the agents as they try to figure out who took the cash and who is killing them.

The plot revolves around this stolen money and the subsequent investigation and killings within the elite DEA unit.

Just finished it. Some parts were a bit predictable, but overall a very enjoyable movie

Not related, but it reminds me of a great message board guffaw after someone dies.

20 minutes in and I hope they explain why Desi would be stupid enough to let the cops search the house. That is something so stupid I won't be able to get past.

They explained it early, even had a discussion of "what if she doesn't let us in"

The same reason all cop shows seen to rely on the suspects never asking for a lawyer and instead confessing to the crime…

Yeah, they explained what they were going to do if she said no. I'm talking about the stupidity of saying yes in the first place.

Well, I got past that stupidity and enjoyed the movie. I liked how they kept you guessing all the way to the very end.

Loved it for about 90% of the way, but thought it would have been better if they had kept the movie completely contained within that house and cul-de-sac. The separate chases at the end became cliche action movies and diminished the gritty tension it had built up until that point. Even the scene in the back of that armored police vehicle was great, so maybe if they had ended it in there I would have been satisfied. But otherwise, that's just a minor gripe, and I definitely recommend it.

It was just lighthearted ribbing and I very much enjoy your posts and inside perspective.

But as far as trailers and monthly releases you do that for a wide swathe of movies with distribution, whether looking forward to them or not.

Just saying RIP had some shoddy treatment for something eagerly anticipated.

Wat? The end result tells you why she let them in.

Agree 100%. Well done mystery for 90%, but then the end was really cliche and dragged out. But overall, good popcorn cop/heist/mystery entertainment for 2 hours

Good movie and strong plot. Felt like something was missing or better stated they rushed a bit of it in the middle. Felt like they could have spent an extra 10-15 minutes to better set up the DEA character and previous heists or missing money. Definitely a good movie though. Both Affleck & Damon killed it and I enjoyed them playing a little different character than normal.

I felt like there was a push of slang for new gens that those guys would never have used realistically.

I'm no LEO by any means, but I believe cops in general are up on the most recent slang since their "clientele" is fluent in it. That's probably double for LEO that work with gangs. And lastly, its Miami, EVERYONE speaks like that down there.

Wasn't a cop but I did work in prisons & I can absolutely verify that correctional officers and police definitely pick up the language of the street. It gets peppered in with English just like Spanish/TexMex does.

A CO or will know your kids slang before you will.

Very much enjoyed it. It comes in hot and doesn't let up the entire time. Agree it faded a bit at the end into a cliche chase, but still every actor was great and kept my attention.

They went on Rogan to promote this last week. I'm still listening but it is good so far. They structured the deal with netflix so BTL would get bonuses based on the performance if the movie.

6/10

Mind-numbingly dumb, inoffensive content, that was fun, but nearly ruined by an absurd, cliche ending.

I don't understand why Netflix chooses to produce movies that have a production value of a direct-to-video movie quality.
