Saw a commercial for greenland 2, and it looked cool...and realized that Greenland (1) came out in 2020, which I didn't even know about. Looked it up on Rotten Tomatoes and the first one, had great reviews. So we watched the first one on HBOMax over the weekend and it was really really good. Plan on seeing the second one in theaters next weekend. Anyone make it out to see greenland 2 last weekend?

The first one may have been largely ignored because it came out during covid, AND the name is awful. Who would think that "Greenland" was about an end of the world asteroid event, action thriller movie. Just a bad name IMHO.

Anyway, highly recommend the first one. Look forward to the second.

Like you I saw the preview for two and thought it looked good and was surprised to find it was a part 2, because I had no recollection of the first one.

Apparently the sequel isn't as good - doesn't have the action of the first, and its just a repeat of getting out of impossible scenarios/getting to a new destination over and over again. Or so I've read. Maybe you'll like it, I wouldn't know. I'll wait for it to come to streaming.

I liked the first one. Mostly because Morena Baccarin is so freakin hot.

Interesting I had the exact same experience yesterday. Saw trailer for 2, looked up the first one. Will have to watch.

Thanks for the feedback...Ill skip it this weekend then. seems like this is the consensus. First one is good, but skip the second.

Considering how expensive movies are now, Ill wait until the new one is on HBO as well.

Just wish there was something exciting at the theaters now. I have avoided fire and ash, no matter how great it looks because I know the plot already and I dont want to sit in a theater for four hours.

I liked Greenland and thought it got a bad rap as just another one of those over the top CGI disaster movies when in fact it was a much different type of movie. I will watch Greenland 2.

First one came out during that time we were all shut in bc of COVID. It was THAT "genre" of movie, and I think people were just so stir crazy at that time that any new show or movie that came out was rated higher than it otherwise would've been. I mean, I thought it was a decent movie, but not good enough that I ever watched it more than once.

That was the same time when Tiger King and Love is Blind also came out and we were all enraptured by it. Doesn't mean it was actually any good, but we were bored out of our minds.
