There is a 5 min recap on the front end of S2E1.

Really enjoyed this first episode and looking forward to more. As much as we're being led to believe that House is the shadowy figure in the meeting that Coop listened to (and the one seemingly directing Barb) and is the person Hank made the recording for, I'm wondering if it's actually someone else. House said he was doing "market research" in the scene where he killed the guys from the bar with the mind control device, so I'm wondering if some off screen Vault-Tec executive or employee gave it to him to test.

Watch to the end of the credits for an extensive season preview. This looks like an incredible season.

Kumail ali Nanjaini (Dinesh from Silicone Valley) is part of the Brotherhood!

Loved hearing Roy Orbisons Working for the Man. Never heard that song before but it was so perfect.

For anyone who played Fallout New Vegas, that's one of the songs played on the local radio station. That's where most the music in the show comes from, which makes those scenes so special for the Fallout fans.

It doesn't bother me much but the amount of flying body parts was really amped up this season. Not sure what the reasoning for that was in the marketing department.

Other than that it is pretty dark but good.

The Ghoul leveled up and selected bloody mess as a throw away perk

I was thinking the same thing during the opening. They're really buying into the Bloody Mess perk, which I'm fine with because that's a personal favorite

Because THAT'S FALLOUT!

Once the music kicked in and the Ghoul got to work with his new Bloody Mess Perk, I was yeehawing and had the biggest ****-eating grin on my face.

That was Fallout.

Looks like I will be watching this season solo. My wife is not a fan of gore.

For my wife it's the rad roaches. She noped the heck out of watching with me when she saw that in the trailer for S1.

I love this show, it's one of my favorites

I'm vaguely familiar with the game Fallout, I remember someone playing it back when I was in school and I thought it looked cool.

I'm sure I'm missing all kinds of Easter Eggs but the show is great. Rewatched Season 1 and rolled straight into Season 2.

Yes

I find it interesting how the last of us gets so much run on here but not this show. I think this show is much more entertaining!

It is strange how obsessed TexAgs is with lesser media. There are countless pages worth of posts about Marvel and Star Wars media that has been absolute garbage for years. But then the actual quality shows have very little fanfare on this site.

This is how I felt after Season 1 of Blue Eye Samurai, wondering why no one was talking about it. It's also weird how The Last of Us seems to get so much more conversation on this site over Fallout. The Last of Us had a single character I gave a **** about.

I agree that Walton Goggins' performance as The Ghoul and Cooper Howard is fantastic, but Ella Purnell as Lucy has also been great. Very well written and performed character.

People like to complain more than they like to praise?

Also a show on Amazon prime based on a video game might be a little outside the grasp of a lot of posters.

As opposed to yet another zombie story based on a video game ?

I think it is honestly still just the reputation that HBO carries. Their shows are far more likely to catch on and become a cultural thing. I don't enjoy last of us or the white lotus but TONS of people watched both. I could go to work and overhear conversations about both constantly. I don't think anyone I work with has even touched Fallout. Fallout is also heavier on the sci-fi and a lot quirkier I suppose.

You know... I was thinking this exact thing while typing my post, lol (the point on complaining more than praising).

Now the second point, I would give you 10 years ago. But after the success of The Last of Us and so many other streaming shows, I don't know if that necessarily holds people back, anymore. Especially when word of mouth about the show is so positive.

Now, I do understand the point some posters are making about the violence not gelling with their significant others.

ETA: Madmarttigan's point about HBO just having better market penetration also makes sense. The Penguin thread on this board was also very active and positive.

Such a shame Fallout isn't moreso. I feel we are going to get a lot of great reveals and twists, this season. I'm super stoked!

Why in the world did they go from Tuesday evening releases to middle of the night? This sucks. I was looking forward to watching it, now I have to avoid spoilers for who knows how long - it's not like Christmas Eve / Christmas Day are easy days to watch a show like Fallout on.
Thanks and gig'em

Yeah, HBO has long had a reputation for putting out well produced shows. Amazon is very hit or miss, and it doesn't help that their platform navigation is complete crap. Honestly, their layout and controls are why I don't go to them to watch something unless I'm looking to watch something specifically.

I did not play the game, but I'm a big fan of this show. Season 1 was great and Season 2 is off to a great start! The futuristic 50's motif is really cool.

Goggins and Purnell are fantastic in their roles. They make me really care about both their characters. We haven't seen the other main dude yet, but he wasn't quite as interesting to me. Now her dad's character is also getting pretty interesting. Is he actually her real dad? I kind of question that right now.

I'm hoping for a redemption arc for the Ghoul and that he's able to reunite with his family. Maybe some of you already know how that turns out.

Keep in mind, there is still so much backstory we still need to get. We don't know her ultimate decisions before the bombs drop.

In the first Season, there is literally nothing much from any of the games other than the world, history, aesthetic, etc. This story line doesn't take place in any of the games, so players of the games only know those particular stories (FO3 set in Washington DC and FO4 set in Boston, referred to as the Commonwealth, in the game.)

Season 2 is the first time we're really visiting a place you visit in the game. Mr. House is the only character you can interact with, in the game, that we've seen in the show. But this show takes place 15 years after the events of Fallout: New Vegas.

No one knows how any of this will turn out. No one can really give you spoilers other than tell you what else is out there that the characters may possibly run into.

Okay... I liked Maximus' character MUCH more in this episode than I did the entire of last season. We finally are shown who he was probably supposed to be last season. An idealist who believes the BoS can be a force for good, but struggling with reality and what this world is pushing him to become. His friend is a *****, though. I can't stand that look she gave before walking away, after Maximus literally killed a man trying to kill him. There was NOTHING wrong with Maximus dropping him.

I also loved the intro of this episode, showing Maximus' father, mother, and the destruction of Shady Sands. They did a great job with the emotion of that scene. Great performance from the dad and mom.

So, it looks like the reveal of Kumail's character is more in line with what I thought. He's not Elder Maxson but a Paladin from his BoS sect. I'm a little wary about the different BoS factions. A couple of those Elders seemed stupid. An Elder of the BoS shouldn't be a caricature. They can be brutal, sure, but each Elder should be highly competent.
