It sounded like it is still going to be set in the Keys, they are just going to film it in California.

Don't they do this with a lot of shows? Film all the interiors and other nondescript aspects in LA, then shoot the exteriors (entering and leaving buildings, that sort of thing) on location ? Shows like CSI, Law and Order, etc, have all done that.

Also, I know they originally were going to base season 2 on the next book in the series, but looks like that's been changed too (maybe to include some characters in season 1 who weren't a part of the book? Never read book 2 so I have no idea)

Regardless, going to give it a shot bc season 1 was such a fun ride

Actually it's usually Vancouver:

And I've only had a chance to get an episode into Bad Monkey but enjoying the characters and story, glad we're getting more.

Looks like it will be an epic fail moving away from the Florida and Bahamian settings which complemented the first season so well.

Leave it to the Big H-weird to screw up a good thing. The backdrops of the first season were part of the charm of the show.

It might as well be called the Vince "Yancy" Vaughn Quippy Apple TV+ Variety Hour. Can see this easily being background noise as I scroll on my phone for three episodes max before calling it quits.
I'm about to shoot Hillsborough and Pinellas County in Florida for Louisville KY for Hallmark. You can make it look like whatever you want with stock shots. Most people have no clue.

Add in digital set extensions and other invisible VFX and you've truly got no idea what you're looking at most of the time.

Finished this today and really loved it. Felt like VV was a new age Fletch. Great show.

Enjoyable little show, even if technically not very good. Very light, which can be nice. Whether you like him or not, Vince Vaughn is a one of a kind. Nobody has else has a similar delivery/cadence/comedic style. I assume he improvises a lot of his lines, because it seems like it would be impossible for someone else to write well in his style.

Glad you enjoyed.

Just did some browsing to see if there was any news and VV has confirmed that season 2 will be a new story that ties together the first and second books:

Quote:

Bad Monkey season 1 ended without any loose threads that could continue the story into a new chapter. This follows the same storytelling method as the book, which has no lead-in to Razor Girl. However, the series will be taking a different approach, with Vaughn confirming there will be an original story to bridge the two novels closer together.

However, the actor confirmed that, should season 2 succeed, "that would be the plan to do that" for season 3. He also confirmed that "David Dobkin, the director of Wedding Crashers, came in and did a bunch of episodes," indicative of the seasoned crew put together to make the new installment a reality.

Per some other reports filming has wrapped and we should see it late this year/early next year.
