The idea that mankind was not the whole point of God's creation is not remotely supported by Scripture. We are very much unique and intentionally made in his image and we're the entire point of creation. Can't go with you on where you are trying to go there.

One interesting theory is that we're conscious and they're not. "The grays," at least, might be biological AI drones - highly advanced "computers" meshed with grown meat sacks. From the Old Testament to the New, the process of canonization was long and historically contingent, not a simple matter of one universally agreed list from the beginning, from the heavens.
Then Translation adds a whole other layer. "Scripture" moved through Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek, Latin, and then into modern languages. Not to mention, manuscripts also differ. Hell, we don't even possess the original biblical manuscripts, only later copies, and those copies contain textual variants. In short, the bible is the greatest game of "telephone" ever played.
None of this means that the bible is worthless or untrue, of course. But it does mean "the exact words of God" is a MUCH more complicated claim than Christians are often willing to admit. I'm all for scripture being treated as spiritually, morally, and historically significant, without pretending it's some kind of perfectly preserved, context-free rulebook. A humble reading makes more sense than a rigid one, if only because the text itself came to us through very human hands - writers, editors, translators, councils, scribes, and power-seeking rulers/institutions - over an incredibly long period of time.
