Grateful for all of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. Praying for the loved ones of the fallen soldiers.

  • Slept pretty good. Woke up at 6ish but dozed off and on til 7:30.
  • Just now sitting down to work. With a crisp Diet Coke from Whataburger
  • Work all/most of the day. Got about 7.5 hours yesterday done.
  • Grocery store run today.
  • Hubs out of town for 2 weeks BUT I go to see him in Vegas on Wednesday.
Do the day!

My "me" time is when the wife has a reunion with ladies from her college and professional days for a girls' trip every year or so and they go on trips: Alaska, Tanzania, etc.
My days of independence may be nearing an end however as "Margaret's husband" is "coming with us to Portugal…are you sure you don't want to go?"

Always a day of deep reflection for me. A day of remembering the two sides of life we live. Of what is important, and what is not. Of what is real, and what isn't. I don't celebrate this day and I don't bother partaking in the sales and barbecues. I am glad that many do though. Instead, I try to use this to realign myself and deal directly with whatever bull**** I have going on. Real or imagined. I no longer try to carry the burden of living the most perfect life possible, but I want to make sure I wouldn't disappoint the memories of the thirty-one others of my unit who died in places that never mattered.


That all being said, I sincerely hope everyone has a great day today! Eat ALL the food and do all the fun things.

  • Relax and take stock. Of everything
  • Probably should do a grocery run but pretty sure I am just going to order something instead and deal with it tomorrow
  • Remember the good times
  • That's it

Came back from the hometown yesterday. It was a great weekend.

Stopped and saw daughter and SIL in Fresno on the way back.

Buc-ee's no longer has 20oz styrofoam cups. You can buy a 32oz or 44oz if you want iced tea or a soft drink. I might have to appropriate one of the coffee cups when I want a smaller sized drink.

If you park at a gas pump and go into the store at Buc-ee's you should be tossed into the American Gladiator ring where they have the tennis ball cannon.

Knock out some work today and see a movie later.

Glad Mojo Tortilla Company was open this morning.

I witnessed in multiple times in 45 seconds yesterday in Waller.

It was odd that it was the same demographic in every instance. I didn't expect that.

-Ran 14 miles. Summer suddenly arrived in full idiot blossom today. I did not like that.
-Finished 4 pounds lighter than when I started despite 36 oz of Gatorade.
-Have to stumble across the bridge to get coffee before I get a headache. Do coffee have a 12 step program?
-I, too, should go to the grocery store but might end up DoorDashing.
-Listen to a recording of Wilfred Owen's "Dulce et decorum est" at some point
-Probably a lot of nothing otherwise

-Still overcoming jet lag after getting home from Ireland around 1 am Sunday morning

- I hope the nation truly understand what today is for. Eat the food, drink the booze, but think about WHY we remember this day

- haircut done. Was starting to look like a damn hippie, and I ain't no communist.

- Going to stare at bison later this afternoon. There's something magnificent about that animal. Nothing better than a bag of cow cubes, a herd of bison, and a cold Lone Star Light. Just watching them eat and listening to the grunts they make.
