I have a 30 minute online interview this afternoon. I'm kind of excited about it because this company employs a number of people that I used to work with at IBM. I did good work with that company and had a good reputation in that office. I'm hoping this will be the connection I've been missing for so many other openings.

There are a lot of details that I'm missing for this, but I think "big picture-wise" I'm ideal. That is, I think they're looking for someone with lots of Windows experience, lots of Linux experience, and lots of work ethic. Hoping today's call stays "big picture."

I got a nonstop flight to Seattle this afternoon on Alaska, then a 2-1/2 hour drive to Bellingham. Premium seating was available, so free drink(s) baby! I hope my meds don't have an alcohol interaction. Nonetheless, this is the point where it all starts to become real. Thank you all for your prayers and support. It's going to be a ****ty week.

  • Slept terribly - thanks to the dog.
  • Not sure what her deal was. She was whining in hubs face at 2AM. Got her to come to my side, gave her pets, went back to bed. She woke me up 2 more times. Finally at 5AM I got up and let her outside. Then she came back inside and went to sleep. I of course, did not.
  • Very productive morning.
  • Lunch sitting in the car with my kiddo.
  • Meetings upon meetings this afternoon. 5 to be exact between 1PM-5PM.
  • Travel work tonight

That was a nice 30 minute getting to know you call with an older woman who had social skills. About as good as interviews get. She told me a lot about the position and their company and didn't ask me a whole lot. I did try to sell myself on length of experience and work ethic. I encouraged her to talk to people I've worked with who are currently with their company, and she seemed to like that. She told me that she would call in "two or three days" and let me know if we're going to move on to an in-person interview.

Local, in office. I did tell them that I'm a single dad and might have personal errands related to that from time to time. She assured me it wasn't a problem.
